Saturday Sept. 6, 2003 was one busy day for me!  It started at 3:30 A.M so we could be on the road to NBC Studios in NYC by 5:45 AM.  Ouch!  We appeared on the Weekend Today in New York TV Show as part of a short segment promoting the Search & Rescue and Service Dog Day at the Intrepid!

After the show, we went to the Intrepid and set up our Therapy Dogs International, Inc (TDI) booth.  We had a great time and it was wonderful to see all the canine heroes and their hero handlers from around the country receive the recognition they deserved.  TDI alone had more than 100 dog and handler teams at both the Pentagon and in NYC consoling family and friends after 9/11.  Some continued to provide pet therapy for as much as 3 months!

In addition to helping man (....or dog) our TDI booth, I performed a short Frisbee demo in the afternoon.  We had a terrific time!

Special "thanks" to Capt. Scott Shields and the Bear Search and Rescue Dog Foundation (you have to check out that site!) as well as the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum for arranging and sponsoring such a great event...... and for inviting me too!

That's my new friend Capt. Scott Shields presenting an award.  The picture on the podium is of Bear and is the same picture hung at the United Nations on 9/14/2003 as an example of a Hero with a plaque that simply reads:

Bear
"Hero"
November 1, 1989 - September 23, 2002
